July 2024 Outcomes of statutory assessments

Although standardized testing is only one small measure of how well our school is doing, Wolf Fields is a consistent top performer, both locally and nationally.

By the end of Key Stage 2 in 2024:

Reading
At Wolf Fields, 82% of pupils achieved the expected standard (EXS), a notably stronger result than the national average of 74%. This outstanding outcome speaks to the engaging reading culture and dedicated instruction flourishing across the school. Meanwhile, 32% of our children reached the greater depth standard (GDS)—well above the national mark of 29%—highlighting the depth of comprehension and critical thinking our readers are reaching.

Writing
In writing, 73% of pupils at Wolf Fields attained the expected standard, which sits just above the national average of 72%, illustrating steady, reliable progress. 14% of our pupils achieved greater depth in writing—slightly above the national 13%—showing emerging talent and room for exciting development.

Mathematics
Our mathematicians shone bright: 82% hit the expected standard compared to 73% nationally. Even more remarkable is that 45% reached greater depth—a towering performance compared to the national of 24%, showcasing exceptional mathematical fluency, reasoning, and problem-solving across the year group.

Spelling, Punctuation & Grammar (GPS)
In GPS, 82% of pupils met the expected standard, a solid 10 percentage points above the national 72%. Impressively, 43% of our pupils achieved greater depth—considerably higher than the 32% seen nationally—demonstrating a mastery of technical accuracy that stands out.

Reading, Writing & Mathematics Combined (RWM)
By the end of Key Stage 2, 64% of pupils reached the expected standard across reading, writing, and maths—comfortably above the national figure of 61%. However, 7% achieved the high standard across all three subjects, aligning exactly with national performance.

At Wolf Fields, our reading results are particularly robust, with both EXS and GDS comfortably outperforming national benchmarks. Mathematics is a standout strength—our pupils are not just achieving but excelling, with nearly half reaching greater depth. Our GPS performance is impressive, with clarity and precision in writing that truly stands out. In writing, we performed steadily, just above national figures, with encouraging signs of deeper attainment. Together, these results weave a tale of secure foundations, soaring mastery, and a school that celebrates deep learning and academic confidence.

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

In the Early Years, 67% of children achieved a Good Level of Development (GLD). This is just below the national average of around 69%, but reflects the steady foundations our youngest learners are building as they embark on their school journey. With a strong focus on language, play, and personal development, our EYFS team are committed to ensuring every child leaves Reception ready to thrive.

Year 1 Phonics Screening Check

In Year 1, 88% of pupils passed the national phonics screening check. This is well above the national average of 79%, demonstrating the secure early reading skills and confidence our children develop through a consistent and systematic approach to phonics. This strong foundation sets them up for a lifelong love of reading.
